There is not one day, hour or minute that passes that there is some writer in some part of the world doing keyword research from any number of the search engines offered online. They do this to find out more about a specific subject or topic that they will write their next article about. When you know little or nothing about a subject you are to write about, it can be a very good idea to do keyword research. It can actually be very helpful to gain such knowledge for article writing.

However, there are times that doing keyword research can actually slow you down while you are working. It can also get you in hot water if you plagiarize or copy someone else’s work without their permission. Today plagiarism is rampant and many clients insist on getting complete original content.

You should know that when you are doing keyword research for article writing for other individuals that you should take care not to use more than three words together which is a phrase, from the original text in your own article, even if it may seem like a good idea to you. When you do this, there are computer programs that are able to find these words and highlight them as a suspect phrase, such as the Copyscape program. Doing so will result in you having to return to the article to revise your work so that it is no longer the same as someone else’s original phrase. Understandably, you could lose a good client as well as give yourself a bad reputation if you let it happen to often. This can damage your chances of writing for others as well.

What about those times when you do keyword research when you are not writing an article for someone else and you want to get the hang of how it will work as well as what you can learn about doing keyword research? You can search until you are satisfied when you are not using the material you find in any sort of paper or article.

When you research for you own pleasure or for learning information and you have plans of using it for anyone else to read, such as the general public then you can search for anything you wish. Does this mean that you cannot copy any information from any online web page for your own information and print out the entire page? The answer is no. You can do so for your own reading pleasure.
