Welcome back!
We are all looking to generate free leads. We could have the coolest website ever created and a top-rated product at a great price, but if we are not getting any traffic to our site, we might just as well not exist. This is the biggest hurdle for just about every new person getting into the internet marketing field.
One avenue that has proved successful in generating free leads is the use of video.
There are probably hundreds of video sites floating around on the Web, but the star is YouTube. All of the others pale in comparison. It’s free and it’s easy to use. The only expense involved would be the purchase of a webcam. This would be the cheapest way to go, but a camcorder would give a more professional looking result. However, for beginners a webcam works just fine. When it comes to video marketing, the content is way more important that the quality of the video itself. I edit my videos using Windows MovieMaker, but YouTube has a program that allows you to personalize your videos and it is super easy to use.
When getting ready to record a video, I recommend that you double check your settings, especially for the lighting. You might have to close or open the blinds in your room or put on a light or two. You want the viewers to be able to see your face clearly.
It is a good idea to have your website superimposed on your video every minute or so. You will do this during the edit stage. It can be done in both Windows MovieMaker and YouTube. Some think that as long as their website is shown on the YouTube page, that is good enough. However, if someone likes your video and forwards it to someone else, that person will have no way of connecting with you. If you put out a great video and it goes viral, then think of all that potential business you have just lost.
When it comes to putting your website address on your YouTube page, I have one little tip. Make sure that it is the first thing you type into your information box. Put in the full address with the http://. It will then be highlighted in blue and will make it very easy for people to click on. Some people have typed it in at the end in their information box, and as YouTube only shows the first line or two of that information, unless the person clicks on ‘more info’ they will not automatically see the address.
There are many who have been in network marketing for quite a while, who have yet to put a video up on YouTube. They don’t feel comfortable about it. My best advice to them is practice, practice, practice! The great thing about the webcams is that you can record the video, watch it yourself right away, take notes about how to improve it and then immediately erase it and try again. You can do this over and over until you feel comfortable about the process. Just imagine that you were talking one on one with your best friend. Smile, laugh and be yourself. When you are happy with the final product, then go ahead and upload it to YouTube.
Dress according to the type of person you are trying to attract. Always keep in mind that our ultimate goal is to attract people to our website. Don’t be shy about extending the invitation at the end of the video. Ask them outright to click on your link and enter their name and e-mail when they get there, so that you can provide them with valuable information.
So let’s say you now have your first video up on YouTube….. to generate all these free leads you are going to have to maximize this video. Post it to other sites, such as your FaceBook or MySpace pages. Also blog about it. This is what the search engines are looking for.
Have fun creating your videos and building your business at the same time.
